Easter Activities at Hollybank make Residents Happy Bunnies

There were plenty of family-friendly activities to get involved in over Easter at Hollybank Trust.

Here are some of the ways in which our homes celebrated the season of the Easter bunny!

Orchard Court

A classic way to celebrate Easter is by going on a well-loved Easter egg hunt to track down some treats planted by the Easter bunny!

Families and parents of residents at Orchard Court were invited to an Easter egg in the sensory gardens. The team worked together to decide on the best hiding places for the eggs along a fun garden trail, and accessible instructions were printed out for parents to follow with their children.

Holly Court

It was a sensory afternoon for Holly Court as the team accompanied residents in the sensory Roehead Gardens, just a stone’s throw away from all our homes at Hollybank Trust.

The garden features different sounds, smells, and visual elements to interact with, including the calming melodies of wind chimes and musical equipment such as tinned symbols. It also features gorgeous sensory planting and a fishpond, which residents love engaging with.

After a short but sweet early spring walk up Taylor Hall Hill, the team indulged in a lovely Easter picnic with a range of sweet and savoury snacks in the Sensory Garden, followed by games of skittles and ball games. To celebrate the change of seasons, Holly Court residents and the team also made their own Easter decorations to pin on the welcome board, letting visitors to the home enjoy the display.

Meanwhile, football fans at Holly Court went to support Huddersfield Town in their latest home game, cheering them on from the stadium!

Brambles

You may have heard of pet therapy, but have you heard of zootherapy? It is a form of therapy that uses animals to help people improve their physical, mental, and emotional health. On a trip to Blackpool Zoo over the Easter weekend, the children and the team at Brambles enjoyed a laid-back afternoon dropping by the to see the animals for a spot of zootherapy!

From the moment the children hopped on the adventure bus at the start of the day, to the moments where they got the opportunity to observe some of their favourite wildlife, they were all excited about what the day had in store.

One of the children took a particular shine to the monkeys in the zoo, and one of the monkeys came down to a nearby to say hello to him.

Gemma Craven, a Senior Support Worker at Brambles, who accompanied the children on the trip, said: “All the staff agreed that it was a lovely day out and we are planning to return in the summer holidays. We had some laughs on the day too – including one of our members of staff getting caught off guard by one of the water-spraying dinosaurs set up around different parts of the zoo!”

Of course, it was only right that the team and residents finished the day with a traditional seaside activity – fish and chips on the beachfront!

Conkers

Just like Christmas and seasonal holidays, birthdays celebrations are a part of making Hollybank Trust a home for our residents. Plus, any excuse for cake!

One of our residents at Conkers recently turned 30, so the team came together to enjoy an afternoon tea experience to mark this milestone birthday, brightening up the home with a spread of colourful cupcakes and decorations.

Hollybank Trust Donation

One of our partners, AJ Recruitment have donated to Hollybank Trust in the form of an Easter hamper filled with sensory-stuffed animal toys, including Easter bunnies, Easter-themed games and of course, chocolate treats as what would this time of year be without those!
