Hollybank is a very special ‘special’ school where
our children and young people get the very best opportunities to thrive. It’s a vibrant, happy place – everyone is valued, and we love celebrating our achievements, however small. Challenges are faced together and always with a smile.
No school is an island and Hollybank is no exception. We work closely with families and health professionals to develop and deliver individual learning plans that stretch our children and help them to shine.
We are extremely lucky here at Hollybank. We have in-house therapy and nursing teams which enable us to provide extra support to children and families that goes above and beyond a typical school education. We have high teacher to pupil ratios and are passionate about adapting our curriculum in a meaningful way to help children reach their potential. We also have access to all the facilities on Hollybank’s Mirfield site, including a hydrotherapy and rebound centre.
Our school was recently awarded the Silver Vision Friendly Mark, by Positive Eye. The staff have worked so hard over the past few months to achieve this accreditation which recognises the work they do towards supporting our pupils with visual impairments, which affects the majority of our pupils. This is a brilliant accreditation for our school to hold, and lots of standards had to be met to be awarded this mark.
Our school was presented with their certificate by Gwyn McCormack from Positive Eye, who runs the award scheme and they were joined by our local MP Mark Eastwood who came to celebrate our achievement too.
All our children have an Educational Needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan. You can refer your child to us directly, or speak to your social worker, community nurse or someone at your local authority.
